By: Mississauga News Six Mississauga basketball players have received full scholarships to a private school in Toronto. Jarryn Skeete, Richard Audu, Jahmar Thompson, Jahvin Bridge, Juremy Seochand and Matthew Atewe, all members of the Mississauga Wolverines Basketball Association, were awarded the scholarships to Metropolitan Preparatory Academy in recognition of their academic excellence and leadership skills both on and off the court. MWBA founder and president Phil Dixon is proud of the boys' achievements. "Metropolitan Preparatory Academy is a private high school in Toronto with a commitment to fostering the intellectual, physical, social and creative potential of students and those specifically focusing on attending university," said Dixon. "We are thrilled that they have chosen six of our players for full scholarships."(From left to right: Jahmar Thompson, Jahvin Bridge, Matthew Atewe, Juremey Seochand, Richard Audu and Jarryn Skeete). Only one scholarship was to be awarded among the six Mississauga students, but Metropolitan Preparatory officials were so impressed that they presented offers to the entire group. The MWBA is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Ontario Basketball Association. It fields teams for boys and girls aged six to 15. |
